GHHS Stories of Humanism

A Call for Storytellers for AAMC’s Learn Serve Lead 2025

Gold Humanism Honor Society (GHHS) promotes humanism, shapes personal and professional identity, and elevates the human experience in medicine. We want to hear how your journey with GHHS has made an impact to promote kind, safe, trustworthy care.

This fall, we’re thrilled to host a storytelling panel and interactive workshop, at Learn Serve Lead: The AAMC Annual Meeting — and we’re inviting you to be part of it.

Whether through your GHHS chapter, a personal humanism initiative, or a challenge you’ve helped address in your community, your story matters—and the possibilities are endless.

Apply to share your journey and inspire others!

About the Workshop

What: The Power of Humanism: How to Transform Healthcare by Being More Intentional about the Human Connection

When: November 1–5, 2025

Where: Learn Serve Lead: The AAMC Annual Meeting in San Antonio, Texas

This engaging workshop will share how the Gold Humanism Honor Society (GHHS) and an emphasis on humanism has impacted the lives of clinicians, the culture of schools and hospitals and the current leaders shaping healthcare. GHHS, which is a program of The Arnold P. Gold Foundation, has 50,000 physician and medical student members.

To highlight the value of these evidence-based interventions, attendees will participate in Tell Me More®, a Gold Foundation communications tool that fosters a stronger connection between a patient and their healthcare team. The workshop will close with an interactive discussion that will leave attendees with action steps they can implement at their institution.

This session is designed both for Gold Humanism Honor Society members and for anyone in medicine who wants to increase the human connection with their patients, colleagues, students, and mentees. Join us for a meaningful workshop that celebrates the heart of medicine and the power of human-centered care.

Share Your Story

We’re inviting GHHS students, residents, faculty, advisors, and those in practice to be part of a special storytelling panel that will kick off the workshop. Following the panel, you’ll help lead the Tell Me More® experience and discussion, building connection through shared humanity.

Your story should highlight how GHHS has:

  • Influenced your career path

  • Shaped your personal or professional identity

  • Enhanced your medical school experience

  • Deepened your understanding of humanism in healthcare

Please anchor your story to a GHHS program or initiative such as:

  • GHHS Chapter initiatives

  • National programs (e.g., Solidarity Week, Thank a Resident Day, Golden Glimmer)

  • Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award

  • Individually led humanism efforts inspired by GHHS values
