GHHS Companion Chapters

A 2025-2026 GHHS initiative designed to connect chapters across the country (and globally) to foster mentorship, mutual learning, and meaningful collaboration. Whether you’re a brand-new chapter seeking guidance or a well-established one ready to share and grow, this initiative invites you to explore the similarities and differences that shape humanistic medical education and service.

By engaging with a companion chapter, you can:

  • Share best practices and project ideas

  • Collaborate on community outreach

  • Explore cultural and structural differences across institutions

  • Build meaningful peer-to-peer connections

  • Learn how others bring humanism to life in their communities

Why Participate?

  • Find shared values amid diverse settings
  • Discover innovative approaches to service and leadership
  • Cultivate empathy across institutions
  • Support chapters that may feel isolated or under-resourced

Program Possibilities

  • Chapter exchange programs (virtual or in-person)
  • Peer mentorship between new and established chapters
  • Shared service projects or awareness campaigns
  • Comparative community health mapping
  • Humanism-focused clubs or discussion series
  • Networking events and opportunities at the Gold Humanism Summit
  • Share challenges and successes in working with your institution and community partners. Discuss how your chapter navigates institutional support, builds relationships, and gets things done—your insights can help others facing similar hurdles.
