Dr. Specter is the Vice Chair for Student Affairs and the Advisor for the Gold Humanism Honor Society Chapter at the University of South Florida, College of Medicine. He has also acted as a monitor for research related to the Gold Humanism Honor Society. Dr. Specter ‘s research spans the fields of retrovirus induced immune deficiency and effects of abused drugs on the immune system. He is the author of more than 175 original scientific publications, review articles and book chapters and has edited a dozen books, including 4 editions of the Clinical Virology Manual.
