This session was part of Day 1 of the 2021 Humanism and Healing Conference: Structural Racism and Its Impact on Medicine, hosted by the Gold Humanism Honor Society (GHHS).
This keynote address tackled issues including the lack of diversity in medicine, barriers to enhancing diversity such as bias and racism, and the benefits of diversity in medicine. The talk concluded with dialogue on the strategies for enhancing diversity in medicine.

Quinn Capers, IV, MD, FACC, FSCAI, is a Rody P. Cox Professor of Internal Medicine (Cardiology), Associate Dean of Faculty Diversity at the UTSW School of Medicine, and Vice Chair, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center.
