The Gold Foundation is excited to announce that the books on our annual Summer Reading Lists for Compassionate Clinicians are now available to order through a Gold Foundation Bookstore on Bookshop.org. 10 percent of every purchase from that bookstore goes to support the nonprofit Gold Foundation, and a matching 10 percent goes to independent bookstores.
The website Bookshop.org serves as an online bookstore that provides financial support to local, independent bookstores. It has raised more than $17 million for such bookstores.
Each summer since 2015, the Gold Foundation has collected recently published books that illuminate the human experience of illness and healthcare into a Summer Reading List for Compassionate Clinicians. More than 30 of those books are now available in a single list on Bookshop.org. Only a few books that are not available through Ingram Publishing are not included.
In this time of dual pandemics, the act of reading has allowed many of us to travel beyond our own circumstances and to remain connected.
“We hope our new bookstore will encourage you to explore new authors and strengthen your connection to the humanity of others – and, as part of your purchase, support our shared mission of humanism in healthcare,” said Brianne Alcala, Editor in Chief and Vice President of Communications.
Suggestions for the bookstore and the 2022 Summer Reading List are welcome. Please email ideas to Communications Associate Irene Zampetoulas at izampetoulas@gold-foundation.org.
