“Extremis” Film Screening and Discussion
Please join the Gold Humanism Honor Society (GHHS) chapter at Central Michigan University College of Medicine for a special viewing of the Netflix documentary Extremis, followed by a lecture on end-of-life care with speakers Dr. Michael Barnett and Dr. Jessica Zitter.
Extremis follows Dr. Zitter in the intensive care unit as she, her patients, and their families face difficult end-of-life decisions. After the screening, there will be a lecture with Q&A as Drs. Barnett and Zitter discuss what future physicians and leaders in healthcare need to know about end-of-life care.
Speakers:
Dr. Michael Barnett is Core Leader for Education in the Division of Gerontology, Geriatrics, & Palliative Care at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).
Dr. Jessica Zitter is a Critical Care and Palliative Medicine physician, author, speaker, filmmaker, and featured in Extremis.
