GHHS Advisory Council

GHHS Advisory Council advises and recommends policies and activities for GHHS to the Arnold P. Gold Foundation board and management.  The Council also assesses and responds to members’ needs to further the mission of GHHS.

The Council meets four times a year, either via conference calls or at face-to-face meetings.  Calls for nominations and applications to the Advisory Council will be posted on this webpage when the Advisory Council is actively filling vacant positions.

Call for Advisory Council Student Members

The GHHS Nominating Committee is seeking two dedicated and energetic 3rd year medical student members to serve on the Advisory Council. The requirements of Advisory Council members are as follows:
  • Student members will serve one-year terms starting May 1, 2017.
  • Members should have either GHHS membership or prior involvement and experience with GHHS. A demonstrated interest in humanism in medicine is required.
  • Members must attend four meetings each year: one face-to-face meeting (travel expenses will be compensated) and three phone conferences.
  • Members are asked to serve on at least one Advisory Council committee.

Note: We will contact all nominees to ask them if they would be willing to serve. We will advise nominees that in order to be considered, they will be required to complete the application on our website (see below) and to submit their one-page CV.

  1. Why do you wish to serve on the GHHS Advisory Council?
  2. What experiences will you bring the GHHS Advisory Council that will advance the mission of GHHS? Please submit responses in the categories below where applicable: a) significant leadership roles at the local and/or national level; b) participation in projects in medical school that encouraged a culture of compassionate care for patients and/or health providers; c) relate a creative solution to a problem you have faced related to a humanistic experience in a clinical setting
  3. What do you believe GHHS should accomplish in the next three years?

The Advisory Council is comprised of students, residents, fellows, deans, institution officials, program directors, practicing physicians, GHHS Chapter Advisors, Tow Award winners, members at large, and a trustee of the Arnold P. Gold Foundation.
