Bring Your Best Self: Creating Environments of Growth

The Gold Humanism Honor Society is excited to partner with the Kern National Network for Flourishing in Medicine for a special series of webinars about connection, community, and identity formation. These sessions are open to all members of the Gold community.

Bring Your Best Self: Creating Environments of Growth

The building blocks of character — strengths like compassion and curiosity or honesty and humility — shape our approach to others and the situations we face personally and professionally. At the same time, practical wisdom allows us to balance competing needs in situations where different values and virtues conflict. Embracing character in medicine means creating spaces where individuals are encouraged to use and strengthen such traits over their careers. In this session, self-reflection, introspection, and dialogue invite us to clarify our values, strengthen our human excellences across different dimensions, and identify ways we can show up as our best selves each day.

Objectives:

  • Identify guiding values and virtues that are personally meaningful and how practical wisdom can be used in deliberating well amid challenging situations.
  • Understand how qualities across moral, intellectual, civic and performance dimensions impact work, life and relationships.
  • Explore creative ways to apply signature character strengths in daily life
