Golden Thread Gala

Every year, the Gold community comes to together for a special evening of celebration.

The Golden Thread Gala brings together a wide variety of supporters who believe passionately in The Arnold P. Gold Foundation’s mission of keeping healthcare human—leaders and faculty of medical schools and teaching hospitals, corporate healthcare leaders, captains of industry, thought leaders in healthcare, compassionate nurses and physicians, and patients and their families.

In 2020, the Golden Thread Gala will be held in June at the Ziegfeld Ballroom in New York City.

This event brings together our key supporters, offering them a chance to meet like-minded leaders and celebrate the major efforts of the year.

Each gala also honors the year’s National Humanism in Medicine Medal recipients.

  • Elaine Adler, entrepreneur, community activist & internationally recognized patient advocate
  • Anna Quindlen, bestselling author, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist & social critic
  • Dr. George E. Thibault, eminent professor, physician & distinguished leader in medical education

In 2018, the Gold Foundation honored:

  • Alan Alda, the Emmy Award-winning actor, writer and science communicator,
  • Darrell Kirch, MD, physician, educator, medical scientist, and President/CEO of the AAMC
