Richard Sheerr elected as new Chairman of the Board

The Board of Trustees of the Arnold P. Gold Foundation elected Richard C. Sheerr to the position of Chairman of the Board. He replaces Jordan J. Cohen, MD who served as Chairman for the past 10 years.

Mr. Sheerr has served as a Trustee of the Gold Foundation since 2014 and has led the Development Committee for the past year. He is President of Willings Advisors, LLC in Philadelphia and has more than 40 years of leadership and management experience in manufacturing, international trade, and non-profit healthcare systems. He focuses on defining a clear strategy and then aligning the human, operational and financial resources needed to implement that strategy.

This is a significant moment in the Foundation’s history as we have only switched chairs once since our founding almost 30 years ago, and that was when Dr. Cohen took over from Dr. Arnold Gold. We deeply appreciate the wisdom, dedication and vision that Dr. Cohen brought to the Foundation and his promise to remain active as a Board member. Mr. Sheerr will have big shoes to fill, but we are confident that he will take the Foundation to even greater heights.

As a Board member, Mr. Sheerr brought invaluable experience and guidance to the development of the Gold Foundation’s new strategic plan.

“This transition demonstrates The Arnold P. Gold Foundation’s commitment to keeping high-caliber, accomplished leaders at the head of our Board,” said Richard I. Levin, President and CEO. “Richard brings an ideal blend of finance, healthcare and fundraising expertise – as well as a deep dedication to the values of humanism in medicine – to this role. We look to him to lead us through a successful implementation of our strategic plan to establish the Gold Foundation as the national leader in a movement to keep healthcare human,” said Levin.

“It is a true privilege to have been elected to this post,” stated Sheerr, who served as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees at the Einstein Healthcare Network from 2009-2012 and the MossRehab Hospital from 1990-1993. “I believe Boards are stewards for the public good. My goal is to carry out the dream of Arnold and Sandra Gold to ensure that compassion and empathy remain at the heart of every healthcare encounter.”
