Gold Foundation calls for an end to forced family separations

As a leader and champion for the human connection in healthcare, The Arnold P. Gold Foundation joins the urgent calls to halt the separation of children from their parents at the United States border and to reunite the 2,300 children who have already been separated.

As experts in mental health have testified, forced separation is exceptionally stressful and can cause lifelong trauma and increased risk of other mental illnesses. As others have noted, the separation of families should not be considered a political issue. The connection between children and parents is critical to children’s growth and health, and, as studies have shown, such trauma can lead to serious health consequences.

We urge the government to cease this inhumane policy of separating children from their parents.
